Relay for Life Motorcycle Ride to benefit American Cancer Society
In June of every year, Jackson EMC (local electrical power provider) holds a benefit fundraiser motorcycle ride. Ron Ciccarone, Data Services Manager for SITECH South, has participated in this event since 2008. Relay For Life is a community based fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. Each year, more than 5,000 Relay For Life events take place in over twenty countries. Events are held in local communities, campus universities and in virtual worlds. As the American Cancer Society's most successful fundraiser and the organization's signature event, the mission of Relay For Life is to raise funds to improve cancer survival, decrease the incidence of cancer, and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their caretakers.
In addition to enjoying a nice ride across the North Georgia countryside, participants of the Jackson EMC event spent time reflecting and recognizing people who have lost their battle with and still courageously fighting cancer. The event was a success and raised over $13,000 through sponsorships, donations and the selling of raffle tickets for door prizes.
SITECH South was a proud sponsor and displayed 1 of 77 signs from various businesses. Nearly all the money raised went directly to the American Cancer Society. We are thankful for Ron’s leadership in showing us how to care for others by doing and look forward to next year’s event to make a difference in the lives of others.
